Our Story

It began with a rash. Quite literally.

In 2016, I dressed my daughter Aurianna in a traditional Indian outfit for Diwali. Within minutes, she was scratching, sobbing, and covered in hives. She was born with allergies, and her sensitive skin couldn’t tolerate polyester or the chemicals used in the making of the outfits. The embellishments were itchy, the fabric felt harsh, and the outfit—though beautiful—wasn’t built for comfort, longevity or sensitive skin. That moment planted the seed for Sia & Sai.

I searched far and wide for Indian kidswear that was gentle on skin, exquisitely crafted, and chic enough to sit alongside Auri’s already stylish wardrobe. What I found was often either too pared-back or too precious—lovely in spirit, but not quite wearable in the modern world. So I began to sketch my own.

The first pieces I designed were for my nephew’s naming ceremony in Sydney, followed by a friend’s wedding in America. Indian in soul, modern in silhouette, and quietly striking— they turned heads and sparked conversations. Other mums began asking where they could find them. That’s when I realised: there was space in the market for something new. And I was ready to fill it.

Of course, the journey wasn’t all silk and sparkle. There was one spectacular misstep, a disappearing tailor, financial setbacks, and a global lockdown thrown in for good measure. But the vision held steady. In 2023, I rebuilt Sia & Sai from the ground up — with sustainable fabrics from trusted mills, ethical manufacturing partners, and a name inspired by my muse, my daughter.

This is modern Indian fashion for the next generation—girls who honour their heritage but live boldly in the present. Our pieces are soft as silk, versatile in spirit, unapologetically stylish and importantly kind on our planet. Think Diwali sparkle that works for birthday brunches. Puja-ready elegance that plays well at the park. Outfits that move from rituals to reels, from heirloom moments to high street flair.
